GOVERNMENT ACQUIRES DESK PHONES TO ENHANCE SERVICE DELIVERY AS GOVERNOR OPARANYA CONTINUES WITH TOWN CLEAN UP OPERATION

The county government of Kakamega through the Ministry of Public Service and Administration has procured fit for purpose desk phones for sub county and ward administrators to enhance internal communication.

The phones, designed to operate with the latest digital communication technology, will be stationed in all ward and sub county offices and will be used to facilitate communication between the administrators, other government officers as well as members of the public.

Public Service and Administration CECM Dr. Beatrice Sabana who handed over the already configured gadgets to H.E. the governor at Golf hotel Kakamega yesterday, said the phones will operate on a 24/7 basis to enable faster reporting of emerging issues such as disasters by members of the public. She explained that the intention is to transform the sub county and ward offices into hubs for delivery of government services and access to information by the public.

The (phone) numbers of the 72 gadgets procured from Kenya’s telecommunications service provider -Telkom, at cost effective price of Kshs. 432,000 will be shared publicly.

MEANWHILE, H.E. the governor was back in the streets of Kakamega today to implement his clean up operation.

He gave a stern warning to kiosk owners who have been unwilling to set up business at designated areas saying demolition of their units was underway.

He also reiterated his directive to matatu operators to operate from the designated area within town. The County boss also toured the ongoing construction of Bukhungu Stadium II.
